India registered a comfortable victory in their second game of the ongoing Asia Cup over Nepal and qualified for the ‘Super 4’ stage. But, after the game, a video went viral where Team India players; Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and head coach Rahul Dravid were seen giving medals to Nepal cricketers.

Kohli was seen giving a medal to Aasif Sheikh who scored 58 runs off 97 balls. But, during that, he got involved in a funny banter with Sheikh and now, in an interview, the Nepal batter revealed it. He said: “It was a proud feeling to receive the medal from Virat Kohli, he funnily told, give the medal to me as well as I dropped your catch”

Here is the shared video:

Virat Kohli did not bat against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023

Kohli dropped an easy catch at short cover when Sheikh was on just one run. Then, he went on to score 58 runs. But, interestingly, Mohammed Siraj only took his wicket and that time, Virat Kohli came up with a one-handed stunner at the short cover. Speaking of the match, Nepal batted first and scored 230 runs. But, due to rain, India were asked to chase 145 runs in 23 overs and they did so with all 10 wickets in hand in just 20.1 overs.

After the match, Nepal skipper, Rohit Paudel said: “Our openers did a very good job for us. In the middle order we could have done better. We were maybe 30-40 short. If we had done better in that phase, we could have got 260-270. In the last 4-5 months our lower order has done a great job, we are very proud of them. I think in these conditions it was really hard because of the dew, but our bowlers did really well.” It was their first time playing in this prestigious tournament but it turned out to be a good learning experience for them after playing two cricketing giants; Pakistan and India.
