Martin Odegaard blamed for Arsenal’s loss to Man United
Arsenal fell to a 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday afternoon.
They were stunned by two goals on the counterattack by United in the second-half.
After Antony scored for United, Bukayo Saka levelled the scores in the beginning of the second half.
But the visitors found themselves behind again six minutes later.
Christian found a pocket of space space in the Arsenal half to feed Bruno Fernandes who provided the perfect killer pass to Marcus Rashford who finished with aplomb.
In his post-match interview, Arteta alluded to a lack of ‘discipline’ in his side’s performance.
Arsenal legend has clarified who Arteta was referring to.
Their captain, Martin Odegaard!
Wright pointed out Odegaard’s failure to track Eriksen during United’s second goal.
The Norwegian was seen pounding the ground with his fists in anger after the goal went in.
“This is what Arteta is talking about in respect of discipline.”, Wright said.
“He has got to be closer to him. Eriksen saw him out, now Odegaard has got to see Eriksen out.”
“He didn’t do it and you can see how disappointed he is with it. Those are the things that kind of cost us today and they were very ruthless in finishing us off.’
Odegaard and Eriksen were also involved in a controversial moment when Gabriel Martinelli’s first half goal was ruled out by VAR.
Odegaard was judged to have fouled Eriksen in the build-up.
We hope Odegaard learns from his mistakes as Arsenal can’t afford any more slip-ups.
