Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has begun in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, drawing an estimated 450 million devotees. Recognized as the world’s largest religious gathering, it promises a profound spiritual experience for attendees.

Authorities anticipate over 10 million pilgrims on Paush Purnima and about 30 million on Makar Sankranti. The mela area operates as a ‘no vehicle zone,’ ensuring smooth movement for the massive crowd. Traffic diversions on seven routes to the Sangam, the sacred confluence of rivers, further enhance safety.

Over 40,000 security personnel, including paramilitary forces and technical service teams, manage security at the event. Additionally, 2,751 CCTV cameras, including 328 with artificial intelligence, monitor key locations. An advanced AI-powered analytics system aids crowd management and enhances overall safety.

To prevent unauthorized drone activity, an anti-drone system operated by skilled experts is in place. Twenty high-tech drones offer continuous surveillance, providing real-time updates across the 25 sectors of the mela. The Integrated Command and Control Centre efficiently handles crowd and traffic control.

For the comfort of pilgrims, authorities have set up 150,000 tents, ensuring ample accommodation. Over 450,000 new electricity connections have been planned, with more than half already operational.

The Mahakumbh Mela unites saints, sadhus, and devotees in a shared quest for spiritual cleansing. The event symbolizes faith, hope, and the pursuit of enlightenment. Extensive preparations and stringent security measures ensure a safe and fulfilling experience for all participants, showcasing the event’s global significance.
