Kusal Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva rescued their side after a bad start and scored an important partnership of 79 runs for the second wicket.

Both of them played aggressive cricket and scored 60 runs in the Powerplay.

Their stand gave a solid base for the upcoming batters to go and hit a big total on the board.

Vimukthi again strikes to dismiss Dhananjaya de Silva in the 9th over of the innings.

D. de Silva scored a brilliant knock of 40 runs off just 28 balls.

The next batter, Tom Banton had a very short stay on the pitch as he was run out on just 2 runs.

Colombage dismissed the dangerous-looking Perera on 58 runs in the 13th over.

Kusal Perera smashed 6 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

Vimukthi also got the wicket of Kemo Paul on just 1 run to end up his figures on 3-24.

Chandimal and Mathews stand

The most senior and in-form members of the side, Chamdimal and Mathews batted outstandingly in the death overs and helped their side to reach a good total in the first innings.

They smashed a 53 runs stand for the 6th wicket.

Mathews was dismissed in the last over after scoring 29 runs off just 16 balls(4 fours).

On the other hand, Chandimal remained unbeaten on 44 runs off 29 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

In reply, the Kennar Lewis started aggressively as he smashed 3 sixes in the first 3 overs but Jaffrey Vandersay dismissed both Lewis and Minod Bhanuka in the same over.

After losing both their openers in the span of just 3 deliveries, Bopara and Asalanka built up a small partnership but that didn’t last long as Vandersay dismissed Asalanka to pick up his 3rd wicket of the innings.

Ravi Bopara was clean bowled by Prasanna after scoring 47 runs off 31 balls including 5 fours and 1 six.

Bopara was the only batter who showed some fight as none of the other Kandy batters passed even a 25 run mark and the whole team was dismissed on just 124 runs.

Vandersay’s magic with the ball

Vandersay bowled a superb bowling spell and it was one of the best spells in the LPL history.

Vandersay single-handedly destroyed the opposition’s batting lineup.

He didn’t bowl any loose deliveries to the batters.
