‘Losing 11 kaunsa hoga isme’ – Fans react as PCB announce Pakistan’s squad for upcoming Asia Cup 2023
Fans are set to witness upcoming 50-over cricket carnivals which consist of Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023. Asia Cup 2023 is set to be kicked off on August 30 when Pakistan will play the tournament opener against Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Interestingly the tournament is co-hosted by both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board announced an 18-member squad of the Pakistan Cricket team for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. However, it will be trimmed to a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Saud Shakeel won’t be playing in the Asia Cup and will return home after the Afghanistan series.
Babar Azam will be leading the side in Asia Cup while star allrounder Shadab Khan is named the vice-captain of the team. Interestingly, PCB included Faheem Ashraf in the squad, who was last seen in an ODI match in 2021. Shan Masood failed to get a place in the squad after his horrible performance in the recent ODI series against New Zealand.
Pakistan’s bowling lineup looks strong
Pakistan’s ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup star Tayyab Tahir also made it to the squad after his brilliant century against India A in the final. Many fans have reacted to Pakistan’s squad and are saying that the team is looking quite strong, especially the bowling lineup.
Their fast bowling lineup consists of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Faheem Ashraf while the spin bowling department will be handled by Shadab, Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir. Pakistan can be one of the contenders to win the major world event.
Pakistan’s 18-man squad:
Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (captain), Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Tayyab Tahir and Saud Shakeel (only for Afghanistan series), Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Haris, Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi
