Kylie Jenner gets down & dirty in Denims & nothing else for Acne Studios

The FW23 Denim Campaign for Acne Studios features Kylie Jenner and her identical twin getting down and dirty. The Swedish luxury label’s fresh delivery of faded denim styles for Fall/Winter 2023 is worn by the fashion legend in a plethora of seductive images taken by Carlijn Jacobs while rocking muddy body paint, wet hair and other fashion trends.

The core of Acne Studios is denim, which Jonny Johansson, the brand’s creative director, describes as “an endlessly important material that [he] loves to reinvent every season.” Johansson also drew towards minimalism and the allure of ageing for this season’s reinvention.

The eye-catching and well-designed advertisement features Jenner wearing the line with ease in a unique, unadorned setting. She wears the classic ‘2021’ mid-rise, wide-leg jeans with a new jacket silhouette, the ultra-oversized, unisex ‘2023’ jacket. Jenner also flaunts the new accessories from the line, including the Multi-Pocket purse in distressed leather and the seasonally appropriate eyewear.

With the campaign’s direction, Jacobs aimed to capitalise on Jenner’s self-assurance and love of herself, thereby igniting the two Kylies’ idea. According to a statement from Jacobs provided to Acne Studios, “The goal of the campaign was to present Kylie as a woman who is in charge, loves herself, and isn’t scared to follow her heart. I wanted to double her to honour her uniqueness. She is not ashamed to express how much she loves herself.”

In the statement, Kylie Jenner states, “This is one of my favourite campaigns. I adored working with Carlijn and I love the simplicity of the photographs. They have strength in their directness.”

Another turn in Jenner’s style progression may be seen in her transformation into a haute mechanic. Even more lately, she’s been dabbling in the cottage-core aesthetic, swishing around in cotton sundresses without makeup and touching grass to connect with nature. Given that Kim and Kendall are typically seen as the Kardashian-Jenner family’s fashion icons, perhaps this Acne Studios ad, along with the duels with Dilara Findikoglu, Margiela, and others, signals a sartorial coming of age and a new experimental period of clothing.
