‘Kya foonk rahe ho bhai’ – Fans troll Indian Management for scheduling India vs Netherlands ODI WC game on Diwali festival
The schedule of the ODI World Cup in India has been rescheduled after a long wait. Different boards raised issues around the schedule. Apart from this, even police departments of different states raised the issue of security as some of the games were scheduled to be played at festivals. One of the games was on October 15 between India and Pakistan.
On that day, a lot of Indians will celebrate the first day of the festival of Navratri (the festival consists of nine days). This game will now be played on October 14. Apart from this, India’s last league game against the Netherlands has also been shifted. The game was meant to be played on November 11, but has been shifted a day later. On that day, a lot of Indians will celebrate Diwali (the festival of lights)

This is how Twitter reacted
I remember the 2011 CWC in which the IND vs WI match was on the day of Holi.
Not sure about the thinking behind it but many people in the comment have mentioned that Diwali is not celebrated that much in Bengaluru.— Srijan Das (@srijann25) August 9, 2023
In the 1987 Reliance World Cup, India had played Australia on Diwali 22nd October at New Delhi. It's idiotic but nothing new.

Keep thinking of everything- ground availability, weather, occasion, etc etc and you are done with organising a WC.
I think this takes a lot more than just sitting and tweeting 👍— Mohit Bararia 🇮🇳🏏 (@MohitBararia7) August 9, 2023

I remember last time we had a match in Bangalore during deepavali was way back during 2013, where Rohit scored his iconic 200 against Australia. What a match it was and that Faulkner innings 👌👌
