KL Rahul gets appointed as India’s vice-captain for ODI World Cup 2023’s remaining matches

The Indian Cricket team recently faced a significant setback when their star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, was ruled out of the entire ODI World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury sustained during a match against Bangladesh. Initially, the injury didn’t appear to be a major concern, but in a surprising turn of events, the Indian cricket board announced on Saturday that Hardik would be leaving India’s ODI World Cup campaign.

Aside from being India’s prominent fast-bowling all-rounder, Hardik also held the role of vice-captain for the tournament. However, the Indian Cricket Board has designated KL Rahul as the new vice-captain for the remainder of the ODI World Cup 2023. While Rahul has ample experience in leading the team, most of his leadership experience has been in the T20I format.

Nevertheless, with Rohit Sharma in the squad, it is widely believed that Rahul’s leadership skills may not be in high demand. Rohit has been exceptional throughout the tournament, excelling in both his batting and captaincy, proving his value in every aspect.
