KL Rahul fails again, gets brutally mocked on Twitter
India’s opening batsman KL Rahul failed once again in the second Test against Australia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
He survived two previous DRS calls from Australian captain Pat Cummins but was third-time unlucky on asking for a review himself.
Nathan Lyon trapped him in front of the wickets, and the umpire Nitin Menon raised his finger, but Rahul immediately decided to review.
However, the third umpire checked for an inside edge off the bat, but there was nothing on Ultra Edge, and the projection showed that the ball would have hit the leg stump.
Rahul departed for 17 from 41 balls.
Fans and users were not happy with Rahul’s continued slump with the bat and brutally trolled him on Twitter.
One fan wrote – KL Rahul is the biggest scam in indian cricket !
Another hilarious tweet said – KL Rahul is Lukaku of cricket. Absolute disgrace of a player.
Another tweeted – KL Rahul should retire from all formats of the game with immediate effect if he has any shame left with him and wants to contribute anything to team India
And this was the best amongst the lot – Oh no… legend KL Rahul missed his century by only 87 runs!
KL Rahul’s place in the Indian squad across formats has been under fire for some time due to a consecutive run of poor scores.
In the first Test at Nagpur, which the Rohit Sharma-led side won by a margin of an essay and 132 runs, KL Rahul failed again.
Throughout his brief stay at the crease, KL Rahul looked shaky in the middle.
He was ultra-conservative and soon enough, debutant Australian spinner Todd Murphy had him caught and bowled for a score of 20.
This was KL Rahul’s fifth consecutive score of less than 25 following his four failures against Bangladesh in December.
In two Test matches in Bangladesh, KL Rahul managed to put up scores of 22, 23, 10, and 2.
After seeing his pathetic batting show at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium last week, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad criticised KL Rahul and even accused Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, and the national selectors of shielding the vice-captain’s place in the side.
“I have a lot of regard for KL Rahul’s talent and ability, but sadly his performances have been well below par. A test average of 34 after 46 tests and more than 8 years in international cricket is ordinary.”
“Can’t think of many who have been given so many chances. Especially when there are so many waiting in the wings & in top form.”
“Shubman Gill is in sublime form, Sarfaraz has been scoring tons in FC cricket and many who deserve a chance ahead of Rahul. Some are just lucky to be given chances endlessly till they succeed while some aren’t allowed to,” Venkatesh Prasad tweeted.
We agree that it’s high time KL Rahul performs or makes way for Gill.
