Kareena Kapoor is noted for playing a variety of characters in a range of film genres—from romantic comedies to crime dramas—she is the recipient of several awards, including six Filmfare Awards, and is one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actresses.

Kareena Kapoor began her Bollywood career with “Refugee” starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan but shot to fame with her portrayal of “Poo” in Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham.

 1. Omkara (2006)

Omkara is a 2006 Indian crime drama film adapted from William Shakespeare’s Othello, co-written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Her acting garnered a lot of praise from fans and critics as she portrayed a character that she had never done before, but she stuck to her task and made the viewers root for her character.

Jab We Met is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Dhillon Mehta. Geet (Kareena Kapoor), an extrovert who is self-confessedly her own favorite, meets Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) on a Punjab-bound train and their lives change. The film received critical acclaim and has developed a cult following since its release. The film was among the top-grossing Hindi films of the year. According to many, Kareena Kapoor gave one of her best performances in the movie, and her character “Geet” became iconic.

3. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

Kareena Kapoor Khan played Pooja “Poo” Sharma Raichand: Om’s daughter; Anjali’s younger sister and Rohan’s wife. She is a sophisticated girl, who helps Rohan in his plan to bring Rahul back to his home; in the process, they fall in love. After spotting Kapoor at a party organized by Bombay Times, Johar decided to cast her immediately for the role of the glamorous diva, Poo. Kapoor stated that in her opinion, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… was primarily Kajol’s film and that her own character was a supporting one. In order to prepare for her role, she worked hard on her dancing skills, as she did not want audiences to know that she could not dance well. The move was a smashing hit and her character “Poo” is still talked about.

4. Chameli (2004)

Director: Anant Balani/ Sudhir Mishra  Cast: Kareena Kapoor, Rahul Bose

Chameli is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language film. It stars Kareena Kapoor and Rahul Bose, and was directed by Anant Balani, who died before the film was complete; after his death, Sudhir Mishra directed the movie. Aman Kapoor (Rahul Bose) is a wealthy investment banker, whose pregnant wife, Neha (Rinke Khanna) was killed in a car accident.

Kareena was always looked upon as the epitome of a commercial heroine but she changed that perception when she agreed to play a prostitute in this Sudhir Mishra film. Kareena allegedly toured Mumbai’s red-light district in disguise to get her mannerisms right and her frank and candid portrayal of a carefree prostitute won her legions of admirers.

5. Angrezi Medium (2020)

Angrezi Medium is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Homi Adajania and produced under the production banner Maddock Films. Kareena owned her presence onscreen with a convincing act of a policewoman, in some ways, it was quite an empowering move too. She has gone on record to comment on how she simply wanted to do something different and experiment and see where it goes and it definitely bore fruit.
