In a recent live Instagram session, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar addressed the controversy stemming from statements made by actress Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh on ‘Koffee With Karan 8.’ The couple’s appearance on the popular talk show’s eighth season had stirred up a storm of hate and trolling on social media.

Johar, known for hosting the show, came to their defence, dismissing the hate comments and trolls directed at the episode. He expressed that the negative comments served no productive purpose, highlighting the need for a more constructive and positive online discourse, particularly when it involves public figures like Deepika and Ranveer Singh.

“Do what you need to do because no one’s looking. Trolling gets you nowhere. You are landing nowhere,” Johar said during his Instagram live. The trolls came after Deepika’s shocking statement in which she revealed that she met several people while dating Ranveer at the same time. However, the statement didn’t go well on social media which led to a brutal trolling of the actress.

“I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn’t commit, until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.’” Deepika was quoted as saying by Koimoi.

Karan Johar talked about whether any cricketer will come to the show or not

Karan Johar’s controversial talk show has a history of putting celebrities in hot water. A few years ago, Indian cricket stars Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul faced a significant controversy that led to a one-year ban from international cricket. Johar, in the meantime, responded to a fan’s inquiry regarding the inclusion of cricketers in the current season of the show.

“Will they come? I don’t know. (laughs) I’m not sure. I would love to have them. They are national icons and celebrated illustrious personalities. But I think with what happened last time I’m not sure they will even take my call. I’m scared to even call and I’m such a big fan and have so much respect in my heart. I don’t want to be rejected.” Johar said.
