India and Pakistan are gearing up for the epic clash on 2 September as they will clash with each other in Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup. Pakistan already won their first game against Nepal while the Men in Blue will look for a winning start. Now, ahead of the match, while speaking on Zalmi TV, the former Pakistan pacer, Wahab Riaz sent a warning to the Men in Green of Team India skipper, Rohit Sharma.

Rohit has an astonishing record against Pakistan in ODIs. He has scored 720 runs in 16 matches, at an average of 51.42. He has six fifties and two centuries to his name. Hence, Riaz said: “Pakistan need to plan against Rohit Sharma. He’s a consistent run scorer against Pakistan.” After hearing such a statement, fans shared their views on social media.

“He could play T20 but this is a different format.” – Saurav Ganguly on Rohit Sharma

Meanwhile, this tournament is going to be a huge one for Rohit Sharma as skipper as he will look to guide the team to glory in this ongoing Asia Cup before the 2023 ODI World Cup, starting in October in India. After Rohit’s appointment, Team India have failed to win any major silverware so far. In 2022, they did not win the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. Then, in 2023 so far, they lost the World Test Championship.

Despite being the king of bilateral series at home and away, the Men in Blue lost some series also under Rohit’s captaincy across all three formats. So, concerns are still there among fans about his captaincy but regarding that, the former Team India skipper, Saurav Ganguly opened up on the Backstage With Boria show. He said: “Rohit as captain is playing his first and last World Cup. I am speaking about the 50-over World Cup here which will come after 4 years. He could play T20 but this is a different format.”
