‘Kab tak fit ho jaayega’ – Fans react as Surykaumar Yadav set to miss T20I series against Afghanistan in 2024

Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss the T20I series against AFG which is set to take place next year. The series will be the last assessment of India before taking part in the T20 WC 2024. It was touted to be crucial for the selection of the players for the big tournament. But, Yadav is set to miss the entire series due to an injury which he sustained in the T20I against SA.

The Indian batter sustained a grade II tear in his ankle, which will keep him out of the series against Afghanistan. He will be undergoing the rehabilitation, which needs some time for recovery. The statement of the Indian cricket board confirmed the same in its statement. “I am good. I am walking, so good,” said Yadav when asked about his fitness after the injury.

The medical team of the Indian cricket board claimed that Yadav would be out of action for some time, before the T20 WC 2024. “He will take some time to recover. He will have to report to the National Cricket Academy later to do his rehabilitation. He is surely going to miss the Afghanistan series,” said the statement of the Indian cricket board’s medical team that has been closely following the fitness of Yadav.

‘He remains under the supervision of the Medical Team’ – India’s statement

Meanwhile, India is set to miss another batter, albeit in a different series, in a different context. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the Test series against SA for injuring his ring finger in the ODI series against SA earlier this week. He will not be able to recover before the start of the first Test against South Africa and hence will be out of action for some time.

“(He) hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained to his ring finger while fielding in the second ODI. He remains under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” claimed the statement of the Indian cricket board. In the absence of Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran is named as the replacement. The talented batter had a good outing in the intra-squad match in the lead up to the series against SA.
