Discarded India cricketer Manish Pandey made a magnificent effort during the final of the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2023. In the final of the second edition, Hubli Tigers and Mysuru Warriors locked horns. In the game, the Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The Tigers had a poor start as Codanda Ajit Karthik removed Luvnith Sisodia in the first over.

At this stage, Mohammed Taha and Krishnan Shrijith (38) put together 89 runs for the second wicket. The latter played a supporting role with the bat. On the other hand, Sanjay Ashwin (16) got retired hurt. With Taha scoring 72, Pandey getting 50 not out, and Manvanth Kumar’s (14*) cameo, the team reached 203/8 at the small ground. For the Warriors, Karthik took two wickets while Monish Reddy, Jagadeesha Suchith, and Kusal Wadhwani took one wicket each.

In reply, the Warriors had a great start as openers, SU Karthik (28) and Ravikumar Samarth put together 57 runs inside the powerplay. Despite the former’s wicket, the team’s run rate was going well. Samarth and skipper Karun Nair (37) added another 56 runs for the second wicket.

After the latter’s wicket, Lankesh came in and struggled with the bat (13 off 15 balls). However, they were still managing to keep up with the required run rate with Samarth getting 63 alongside other players playing cameos. In the last over, the Yellow Brigade needed 12 runs to win the title. In the over, the team lost two wickets and lost the game by eight wickets.

In the over, Pandey, who has played for India before, too, pulled off a save. At the time, the Warriors needed 11 off four balls. Suchith managed to hit an aerial shot against Manvanth Kumar. However, Pandey managed to keep it to one run scored off the ball. This led to the Tigers winning the title.
