India’s premium fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s triumphant return to the cricketing world has been nothing short of spectacular. In India’s 6th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 against England, he delivered a magnificent bowling performance, further solidifying his status as one of the world’s premier fast bowlers.

With 14 wickets in just 6 matches, Bumrah is currently standing in the 2nd spot on the list of most wicket-takers in the tournament, just behind Australia‘s Adam Zampa, who has taken 16 wickets. What makes Bumrah’s comeback all the more remarkable is the adversity he faced during his injury-enforced absence.

His road to recovery saw him miss major tournaments like the 2022 Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2022. He also missed the 2023 World Test Championship final in which India was defeated by Australia. Bumrah’s absence met with criticism and even memes questioning his ability to make a successful return. However, Bumrah remained resolute and focused on his training at the NCA nets, determined to avoid a recurrence of the injury that had sidelined him.

It doesn’t bother me: Jasprit Bumrah

In addition to his incredible return, the fast bowler has established himself as a dominant presence in the ODI World Cup 2023. His remarkable performances have not only silenced his critics but also led him to express his satisfaction with his triumphant return to the Indian team. Moreover, amidst his stellar bowling displays, he has confidently addressed and silenced his haters with a sensational statement.

“My wife, Sanjana Ganesan, works in sports media. I heard that my career was finished and I would not return to cricket, but it doesn’t bother me. I have realized my love for the game. I wasn’t chasing anything and I had a great mindset after the injury. Now, I focus on the positives and enjoy as much as I can,” Bumrah was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
