Jamie Vardy has signed a new two-year contract at Leicester City.

This comes as a setback to Manchester United who were hopeful of getting Vardy’s signature.

Leicester have now confirmed an extension till June 2024.

Vardy said: “I’m obviously over the moon. Once I heard it was something the club was looking at, there was only one thing that was going to happen, and I was going to sign it. The decision was easy.”

“Now it’s all about this season and finishing as high as we can.”

“My legs are still feeling great so I’ll carry that on helping the club as much as I can, whether that’s scoring or assisting, that’s what I’m here to do.”

Vardy remains Leicester’s top striker and has cemented his status as a Premier League legend.

He managed an impressive 15 goals from 25 Premier League appearances last season, despite a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for two long spells.

Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester City manager was also positive about Vardy.

“Have a look at his goals in pre-season, when he is working hard but his eyes light up when the competition starts.”

“If he can stay fit and available I am pretty sure he won’t be too far off that mark of 20 goals a season.”

Vardy was one of nine players who had headed into the final year of their contracts.
