A big news comes from the Pakistan cricket board. Salman Butt gets sacked from his post of consultant selector of Pakistan just a day after being appointed for the same. It comes as a definite surprise, as Pakistan had appointed him for the post and removed him just a day after it without apparently any justifiable reason for it. The move comes following the outrage of the fans.

Slaman was involved in spot spot-fixing saga that took place in 2010, when Pakistan had toured England. In the tour, two Pakistani pacers, Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Asif, were caught in spot-fixing. Butt was deemed to be involved in it as well. the three cricketers were banned from taking part in international cricket for five long years. They did not take part in cricket from 2011 to 2015.

When Butt, Aamir, and Asif returned in 2016, only one of them seemed close to their self-best. Aamir continued to play cricket for Pakistan for four more years. Asif and Butt were not preferred by their national board. Butt retired from international cricket. Recently, Pakistan had a bad performance in the ODI World Cup 2023. Following this, the entire selection committee was sacked.

Wahab Riaz was appointed the new chief selector of Pakistan. With him, there were three persons appointed as consultant selectors. Kamran Akmal and a former Pakistan cricketer was appointed for the post, along with Butt. But the latter was removed from his post just a day after his appointment. There was no proper explanation given for the same by Pakistan. Wahab Riaz reacted for the same.

Reports claim that an unnamed person on the board was not happy with the appointment of Butt for the post. While it is not sure, Riaz reacted by sacking Butt. “People were talking all sorts of stuff about me and Salman Butt. Therefore, I am reverting the decision and I have already spoken to Salman Butt and I have told him that he cannot be part of my team,” said Riaz.
