Italy beat Spain on penalties to reach the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Federico Chiesa put Italy in front in the 2nd half as he scored in the 60th minute to give Italy the lead.

Alvaro Morata, who started off from the bench, equalised in the 80th minute, through a play, typical of Spanish football.

Morata dropped deep to get the ball from Laporte before making a driving run through the middle of the field.

He played a one-two with Olmo to open up a pocket of space before coolly slotting his effort past Donnarumma and into the bottom left.

Álvaro Morata became the highest scorer for Spain at the European Championships (6) than any other player in their history, breaking Fernando Torres’ record.

The match stood 1-1 at the end of extra-time.

After Locatelli’s penalty-kick was saved by Unai Simon, Dani Olmo had a golden chance to put Spain ahead.

But his effort flew over the crossbar, handing over the psychological edge to Italy.

Belotti and Bonucci made no mistakes while Moreno and Thiago Alcantara also scored for Spain.

At this vital juncture, Spain’s Alvaro Morata failed to deliver for Spain as his weak shot was easily saved by Donnarumma,

The Italian penalty kick expert Jorginho stepped up and coolly slotted the ball to Simon’s left, with his customary skip, sealing the tie 4-2 in Italy’s favour.

Spain have failed to progress from a semi-final of a major tournament (World Cup/Euros) for the first time in their history.

Italy have now reached their 10th major tournament final (World Cup/Euros).

Only Germany (14) have participated in more major tournament finals amongst European nations than Italy.

Previously, they have reached the final in each of their previous five semi-final appearances.

Italy will face either Denmark or England in the final.
