Netherlands and Bangladesh clashed against each other in the 28th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, October 28. The Dutch continue to impress all the cricket fans around the world as they registered their 2nd big win of the tournament by defeating the Bangla Tigers by 87 runs.

Talking about the match, the Netherlands won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the decision proved wrong as they lost both their openers Vikramjit Singh and Max ODowd on the score of just 4 runs. But skipper Scott Edwards once again led the way with the bat but got very little support from the other end.

Wesley Barresi showed his experience for some time but fell for 41 runs. Sybrand Engelbrecht managed to hang in there with the skipper but fell in the death overs on the score of 35 runs trying to lift the rate. It was a few lusty blows from Logan van Beek which took them beyond 225. Edwards was the highest scorer for the Dutch with a wonderful knock of 68 runs.

Brilliant bowling performance by the Netherlands

Chasing the target, Bangladesh’s batters struggled to find their form, consistently losing wickets at regular intervals. The batting order underwent some changes, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz even batting ahead of Najmul Hossain Shanto. Surprisingly, Miraz managed to score 35 runs, the highest among all Bangladeshi batters in the match.

The Dutch bowlers were outstanding throughout the innings, with Paul van Meekeren shining by taking 4 wickets and giving away only 23 runs in 7.2 overs. Bas de Leede, who had previously recorded the worst bowling figures in ODI history against Australia, made a remarkable comeback, securing 2 wickets while conceding just 25 runs in 7 overs. This impressive bowling display led the Netherlands to their second win of the tournament.
