‘Isko bolte hain legend’ – Fans react as Stuart Board says Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes made him ‘a warrior’ today
England’s premium Test cricketer Stuard Broad shocked the cricket universe after he announced that he will be hanging up his boots after the 5th Ashes 2023 Test. No one expected that Broad would come up with the shocking announcement. Broad has been performing consistently in the longest format for a while and taking retirement at this stage of his career is definitely a setback for all cricket fans.
Meanwhile, Broad attended a press conference after the 3rd day of the 5th Test at The Oval where a reporter asked him about the 6 sixes he conceded in a single over during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Broad said that it was a horrible experience as a youngster but the incident helped him to become a warrior.
“Yeah, it was obviously a pretty tough day. What would I have been: 21, 22? [22] I learned loads. I pretty much based a whole mental routine on that experience knowing that I was left very short as an international performer at that moment. I’d rushed my preparation. I didn’t have any sort of pre-ball routine. I didn’t have any focus, particularly, and I started building my ‘warrior mode’ that I call it after that experience,” Broad was quoted as saying by Circle of Cricket.
I wish that didn’t happen: Stuart Broad
Broad further added and said that he wishes it shouldn’t have happened but it didn’t affect him much as the match was a dead rubber as the English side were already out of the grand event but somehow it helped him to become a competitor today.
“Ultimately, of course, I wish that didn’t happen. I think what helped me was it was a dead rubber, so it didn’t feel like I’d knocked us out of the World Cup or something. But I think it steeled me up to make me the competitor I am to this day and has driven me forward a huge amount,” he said.
