Sunil Gavaskar has made a huge claim on Virat Kohli’s participation in the IPL 2024. The former Indian cricketer touched upon the fact that Virat took leave despite having a series against England. While everyone was wondering the reason behind the move of the star cricketer, Virat and Anushka revealed the reason behind the same. The star couple is parents for the second time.

Virat and Anushka are born with a baby boy, whom they have named as ‘Akaay‘. The fans have congratulated the duo for the same and wished them a happy future with the new family. It is not sure if Virat will be available for the last Test between India and England, which is set to take place from the 7th of March to the 11th of March.

Gavaskar was asked by the broadcasters regarding the same in a recent show. The former Indian skipper felt that given the star batter is a parent now, he might be looking to spend some time with the newborn baby. The 74-year-old added that one could not tell exactly what Virat would do and went on to give his opinion on the same.

‘Shaayad ho sakta hai ki IPL ke liye bhi na khele’ – Sunil Gavaskar

The former Indian opener felt that Virat might not just end up missing the fifth Test of the series in Dharamshala but could also miss the IPL 2024 for RCB. The little master felt that since Virat did not play the Test series for being dad, he could take leave from the IPL as well. The statement of Gavaskar has scared the RCB fans who wish to see him in action soon.

“Kya woh khelenge… kuch reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ki IPL ki liye bhi na khele (Will he play? He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in IPL as well),” claimed Gavaskar. While it is just the opinion of the former batter, it is to be seen if Virat will be back in action in the upcoming days.
