Is Virat Kohli extending a house party invitation to Pakistan cricketers?
A recent social media rumour was sparked when a fake Twitter account impersonating former India captain Virat Kohli claimed that he was extending an invitation to Pakistani cricketers for a house party. The tweet quickly went viral, creating a buzz among cricket fans on both sides of the border. However, it was soon revealed that the account was a hoax, leaving fans disappointed.
Kohli’s genuine Twitter account has not made any such announcement, and it is crucial to verify information from official sources before jumping to conclusions. While cricket has often been a source of unity and excitement, it is essential to be cautious about fake news and rumours in the digital age.
“I warmly welcome the Pakistan Cricket Team on their arrival in my country after a long time period of 7 years, I will host a party for my friends, especially for Shadab at my house Love you all, always spread love and joy,” the fake account tweeted.
The way Hyderabad supports us, we are very happy: Babar Azam
Earlier, after a long dispute between the Indian Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board, the Pakistan cricket team arrived in India and the Indian cricket fans in Hyderabad whole-heartedly welcomed the Pakistan cricket team. Indian fans turned up in large numbers to greet their Pakistani counterparts, waving placards with messages of peace and friendship.
Even during Pakistan’s first ODI World Cup 2023 match, the fans in Hyderabad came to extend their support to the Pakistan cricketers against the Netherlands on October 6. Pakistan captain Babar Azam also thanked the crowd in Hyderabad for supporting them.
“The way Hyderabad supports us, we are very happy. Our team is enjoying the hospitality.” Babar said in the post-match presentation.
This gesture exemplifies how cricket can transcend borders and foster unity among fans, transcending political tensions. It serves as a reminder that sports have the power to bring people together, fostering goodwill and promoting harmony even in the face of historic rivalries.
