Is Messi returning to Barcelona?
Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends in June.
Naturally, speculation over his future has already begun.
Former club Barcelona is in the dumps after the shock exit from the Champions League.
There are many Barca influentials who have made no secret of their desire to see Messi return to the club after his exit in 2021.
However, they will need to sell members of their squad to have any hope of re-signing their legend.
His current club PSG are believed to be preparing a blockbuster offer to entice the star to commit to the French Champions until 2025.
Another keen suitor is David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
Beckham has been desperate to attract the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to America’s MLS.
But it is believed that Messi’s family members have warned him against swapping European football for MLS.
We agree.
He’s 35 years of age, two-years younger than Ronaldo.
Also, not serious footballer goes to America unless they want to earn big bucks.
Admittedly, Messi’s first season in Ligue 1 did not go to plan as he became accustomed to his new surroundings.
Messi scored only 11 goals in a season that saw him crash out to Real Madrid in the Champions League last-16.
This season has been a different matter altogether with the Argentine enjoying a new lease of life under new coach Christophe Galtier.
Till now, this season, he has having posted a staggering 12 goals and 13 assists in 17 games.
Also, Messi and his family have settled down well in the French capital.
So a move to Barcelona looks unlikely, at least for now.
