Irfan Pathan posts startling comments about star India batter after scoring a century
Sarfaraz Khan is one of the finest first-class batters of this generation. The 26-year-old batter, despite consistent domestic performances, was again kept out of the national side for the first two Tests against England. His fitness has been a question to the side and that is the reason that the Indian Cricket Board has kept an eye off the batter. Sarfaraz is currently playing for India A and scored a brilliant hundred as well against the England Lions.
Former World Cup winner Irfan Pathan has expressed his concern for the batter. He took to social media to question Sarfaraz’s continuous snub, sharing the batter’s amazing first-class statistics. The batter played a knock of 161 runs on Thursday and again put pressure on the selectors to get a nod for the three matches that are left as the squad is yet to be announced for the same.
Irfan highlighted Sarfaraz’s remarkable record of 13 hundred and 11 fifties in first-class cricket, weighing the need for an explanation behind his exclusion. Dhruv Jurel who has been called for the first two Tests shows the negligence of the selectors towards Sarfaraz.
Sarfaraz’s first-class record
In the 2022/23 Ranji Trophy, the Mumbai batter scored 556 runs in nine innings, at 92.66, including three hundreds. He was the best run-scorer in the 2021/22 Ranji season, with 982 runs in nine innings at an average of 122.75, including four hundreds. Sarfaraz has scored 3751 runs in 65 innings at an average of 68.20, including 13 scores and 11 half-centuries in first-class cricket. The middle-order batsman, however, has yet to make his India debut.
The Men in Blue is currently playing in the 5-match Test series against England and have bowled the visitors out for 246 runs India are still trailing for 74 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the pavilion after scoring 80 runs and KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the crease the former is nearing his fifty.
The side is still to announce the squad for the rest three games and there’s a chance for Sarfaraz to get in the side.
