India won the 8th Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup 2023. The final match was held on Sunday at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium. Indian bowlers displayed a magnificent performance to help India register a convincing victory. Mohammad Siraj was the star with the ball as he picked up 6 wickets in the first innings.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took to social media to express his delight, posting a witty remark on Pakistan that left fans in splits. While celebrating India’s triumph, he cheekily remarked, “Padosi abhi bhi Awaz Karne ki Koshish Kar rahe hai, Lekin Colombo Tak unki Awaaz pahoch nahi rahi hai (Neighbors are still trying to raise their voice, but their voice is not reaching Colombo)”. Fans reacted to it and shared their opinion.

A brilliant all-round performance by India

Talking about the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat. India, who came to bowl first, bundled out the Sri Lankan team for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs. For India, Siraj took 6 wickets after spending 21 runs in 7 overs. Siraj also achieved the feat of taking four wickets in a single over which turned the match completely. Apart from this, Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took 1 wicket.

Chasing the target of 51 runs, the Indian team won the match in just 6.1 overs without losing any wickets. Shubman Gill, who came to open for the team, scored 27* in 19 balls and Ishan Kishan scored 23* in 18 balls. Gill hit 6 fours and Ishaan hit 3 fours in his innings. 

Team India are now setting its sights on the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. With their formidable squad and recent success, they are the favourites and strong contenders for the coveted title.
