IPL: RCB humiliate Mumbai Indians
Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed their second victory against Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2021 on Sunday night.
Virat Kohli and co won the game by 54 runs.
In pursuit of 166, MI bundled out for only 111.
Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave a fiery start to the inning, scoring 56/0 in the powerplay, but a collapse in the middle meant another failed run chase for the Indians.
Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were the standout performers with the bat for RCB.
Both scored fifties that propelled Bangalore to a respectable total. Maxwell bagged the Man of the Match award for his 56 and 2/23.
Chahal announces his comeback
It’s been a tough few weeks for Yuzvendra Chahal.
The leg-spinner was first dropped from India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup that will begin in October, then RCB excluded him as a regular starter.
In his comeback game tonight, Chahal proved that it’s about time people start putting respect to his name.
With a maiden over and three wickets against reigning IPL titlists, Chahal announced his return to form.
Harshal – the hat-trick hero
After having a quiet game against Chennai, Harshal Patel returned to his absolute best against MI.
The right-arm pacer dismissed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar to claim his first hattrick in the IPL.
His fourth victim was Adam Milne.
The Bangalore star has now claimed 23 wickets altogether in this season.
He has played all 10 games for RCB. He now has a fiver and a hattrick against the defending IPL champions in the same season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore 165 for 6 (Maxwell 56, Kohli 51, Bumrah 3-36) beat Mumbai Indians 111 (Rohit 43, Harshal 4-17, Chahal 3-11) by 54 runs.
Match preview – SRH vs RR
Rajasthan Royals will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League 2021.
The Dubai International Stadium will host the contest at 7:30 pm.
Expected best performer
Sanju Samson
The Royals skipper is in the form of his life.
While other Rajasthan batters are undergoing a form slump, Samson has been putting up big totals.
With a century already registered this season and 70 unbeaten in the last game, Samson is a strong contender for the Player of the Match trophy tomorrow.
He’s averaging 50.14 this season with 351 runs scored in nine games.
Match prediction
Rajasthan Royals have had a mixed ride of emotions in the UAE leg of the tournament.
Courtesy Kartik Tyagi’s brilliant last over, they won a game from the jaws of defeat against Punjab Kings.
Against Delhi Capitals, they suffered a 33-run loss in a low-scoring contest.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s miseries have followed them from India to the UAE.
There have been no signs of improvements regardless of the change in their tactics.
RR have won four of nine games while SRH have won just once so far.
SRH fans were expecting the team to improve when Kane Williamson replaced David Warner as the captain.
But to their surprise, nothing significantly changed. Their woes don’t seem to end anytime soon.
Hence, the Royals must grab an easy win against the Sunrisers on Monday.
