IPL nuggets: Rohit Sharma hides his face under his cap, after loss to CSK
Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, April 8.
The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai team had lost their previous game against Royal Challengers Bangalore and were eager to win against their strong opponents Chennai.
Following the loss, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma was seen hiding his face under his cap.
Mumbai Indians were off to a rocky start as CSK won the toss and opted to field first. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan tried to steady the ship but were dismissed early, putting the team under pressure.
The five-time IPL champions managed to score a modest total of 157 runs.
Chennai’s chase started with the early dismissal of Devon Conway, but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane put up a strong partnership to take their team home.
Rahane played a blistering innings of 61 runs in just 27 deliveries, while Gaikwad remained unbeaten and anchored the chase until the end.
CSK won the match with eight balls to spare.
Mumbai Indians have had a disappointing start to the tournament, with back-to-back losses in their first two games.
Their skipper Rohit Sharma has also struggled to find form, scoring only 22 runs in the two games he has played so far.
The team will be desperate to turn things around and register their first win in the upcoming games.
