IPL nuggets: Fans angry with Harry Brook’s IPL form
Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Harry Brook became a target of ridicule after his batting failure in the 34th IPL 2023 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday in Hyderabad.
In a chase of 145, Harry Brook could only score seven runs from 14 balls.
What’s worse, his innings featured 7 dot balls!
He made two runs from his first six balls and later, struggled with his footwork against Ishant Sharma.
He struggled for timing during his innings before Anrich Nortje bowled him in the sixth over and put him out of his misery.
SRH bought Brook with a lot of fanfare last December with a hefty paycheck of INR 13.25 crore, hoping to bolster their batting unit.
However, Brook has been a dismal failure so far.
Brook made 13, 3 and 13 before smashing a stunning unbeaten 100 from 55 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, he has not been able to fire since then, with knocks of nine and 18 in his next two games before the clash with DC.
Kevin Pietersen also joined the growing army of critics.
He criticised Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Harry Brook for the mode of his dismissal after his 14-ball seven against Delhi Capitals.
“I just don’t understand the shot actually,” said Pietersen. “The fine leg is back. You’ve got a deep point, you’ve got a fine leg.”
“He was giving himself a lot of room on the leg stump to hit through the off-side. I dunno, maybe I’m old fashioned – fine leg back, not a good shot.”
Eventually, the rage of the cricket fans boiled over and they took to the Twitter and slammed him.
Here are some of the tweets:
One guy wrote – Looks like now harry brook only knows how to play baseball…!
Another user said – Harry Brook, Biggest Scam in IPL 2023.
Delhi for the first time in IPL history defended a target of less than 150.
SRH shamless batting continues.
Another reaction was – Somehow it feels Harry Brook needs a break. Yes everyone struggled but may be Glenn Phillips would be happy getting a go as well.
But the funnest comment was –
Harry Brook joins Tuk Tuk Academy in partnership with Kl Rahul.
We hope Brook recovers his form quickly as SRH’s IPL hopes are resting on him.
