He is young pacer Shivam Mavi, who was bought by Gujarat Titans in the 2023 IPL auction for Rs 6 crores!

Mavi made his IPL debut back in 2018, when he was only 19 years of age.

Despite his inexperience, Kolkata Knight Riders shelled out Rs 3 crore for his services, as the player from Uttar Pradesh played a crucial role in the India U19 team’s triumph in the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup.

KKR showed faith in the youngster by retaining him ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, and Mavi repaid them by picking 11 wickets in nine wickets.

That performance helped him secure a lucrative contract of Rs 7.20 crores, with the same franchise, in the IPL 2022 auction.

However, Mavi’s form nose-dived and he was a major disappointment, bagging just five wickets in six matches.

As a result, KKR released him.

IPL 2023 will provide him with an opportunity to restart his career and build up his reputation.

As per sources, Gujarat Titans coach, Ashish Nehra is a big fan of Mavi.

Even, Suresh Raina, former India and Uttar Pradesh batter confirmed this news.

Raina said that Mavi has the ability to swing the ball at pace in the early overs, which might have attracted Nehra, who was a similar bowler at the time he played in international cricket.

Mavi can bowl at 140 kph, swing the new ball, and is a wicket-taker in the powerplay.

He has also worked on his variations, including the bouncer and the yorker, as well as his death-bowling skills, and there is always demand for Indian fast bowlers.
