IPL News: Abhishek Porel will be Rishabh Pant’s replacement for DC
With less than a week to go for the start of a fresh IPL season, Delhi Capitals have finally announced Rishabh Pant’s replacement.
Bengal’s Abhishek Porel will be replacing the DC captain.
Porel, who plays for Bengal, is also a left-hander and can keep wickets.
He has been a handy contributor with the bat for Bengal this season, and his wicketkeeping skills were highly impressive.
In this season of the Ranji Trophy, Porel scored 49 against Haryana in the group stage, 51 against Madhya Pradesh in the semi-final and a 50 in the final against Saurashtra.
Overall, Abhishek Porel has played 16 first class games for Bengal where he has score 695 runs, including 6 half-centuries.
As a keeper Porel has taken 58 catches and also inflicted 8 stumpings.
The 20-year-old left-hander from Bengal made his domestic debut only last season.
It is a big opportunity for him to impress and make a name for himself.
However, even though Porel has been roped in, it will be Sarfaraz Khan who will be taking up the mantle of the first-choice keeper batter.
Pant has been ruled out for the entire season of the IPL due to an injury he picked up during an accident late last year.
While Pant continues to recover, the Capitals are bound to miss their captain.
David Warner is going to lead the Capitals in this season.
