IPL: Convincing victory for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan became the first team in the tournament to win a match batting first so far.

A half-century from Samson and some great contributions from Buttler, Padikkal, and Hetmyer helped Rajasthan Royals to post a big total on the board.

Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult set the tone in the powerplay which was fully utilized by Yuzvendra Chahal to restrict SRH 61 runs behind the target.

RR’s bright start in the powerplay

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were brilliant at the top, they give a fiery start to their side.

Buttler smashed some outstanding boundaries early on that set the tone for a big score.

Buttler and Jaiswal scored 58 runs from the powerplay.

The young Jaiswal hit 2 fours and a six in his knock of 20 runs.

On the other hand, Jos Buttler failed to score big and got out on 35 runs off 28 balls including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

The skipper Sanju Samson carried this good start provided by the openers to put a big total on the board.

He was more than well supported by Devdutt Padikkal.

Samson and Padikkal added 73 runs for the third wicket.

Samson scored a brilliant half-century but after scoring 55 runs he got dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Samson smacked 3 fours and 5 sixes in his knock.

Padikkal is an opener but he played a crucial and impressive knock for his side at number 4 that proved his versatility.

Padikkal missed his half-century by only 9 runs as he was bowled out by Umran Malik for 41 runs.

Shimron Hetmyer provided the firepower in the end by playing a crucial quick little cameo of 32 runs from just 13 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Hetmyer’s power-hitting helped Rajasthan Royals to finish on 210-6 from their 20 overs.

Relentless opening spell from Krishna and Boult

Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult were almost unplayable with the new ball.

They destroyed the SRH’s top-order within the powerplay.

Prasidh Krishna dismissed the star kiwi batter, Kane Williamson, in the second over to set the tone.

In his second over, Krishna got rid of Rahul Tewatia for a duck.

Trent Boult was keeping things tight from the other end in his first two overs but he also picked up an important wicket of Nicholas Pooran to leave the opposition stunned at 9-3.

Both Krishna and Boult bowled 3 straight overs which is very rare for a new ball pacer in T20 cricket. They only gave away 10 runs from their 6 overs collectively.

After a horrible start, Sunrisers Hyderabad never managed to make a comeback in the match and kept losing wickets.

Aiden Markram stayed patient from one end while the wickets were crumbling from the other end.

Yuzvendra Chahal proved the destructor in the middle phase as picked up three wickets for only 22 runs from his 4 overs.

Washington Sundar played a quick cameo of 40 runs from just 14 deliveries including 5 fours and 2 sixes but the target got out of their reach at that time.

Aiden Markram remained unbeaten till the end, scoring 57 runs from 42 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the game by 61 runs.
