The 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see 2012 and 2014 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clash with 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The encounter is scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2023, at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 7.30 PM IST.

Kolkata Knight Riders had faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in 23 matches in the IPL.

They have won 15 matches and SRH has won 7 matches.

The last time they played against each other this season, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 7 wickets.

KKR has been outstanding in this tournament. They had played three matches with two wins to their name.

They had lost just one match and are in third position on the points table right now.

They were unlucky in their opening match against Punjab Kings where they lost the match through the DLS method.

However, they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans in two back-to-back matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win in this edition of IPL after losing two matches in a row.

They were beaten by Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals but won their third match against Punjab Kings with a handsome margin of eight wickets.

They are in ninth position in the table.

This ground is known for for being a batsman-friendly pitch.

The pitch at Eden Gardens is generally slow and low, making it challenging for fast bowlers to generate much bounce.

Spin bowlers may find some assistance from the pitch, particularly as the game progresses and the pitch begins to wear down.

Key players

For KKR, Gurbaz is a potential match-winner once he gets into his element.

In fact, the batter likes to exploit the powerplay overs (1-6) and get quick runs.

It will not be a surprise if the opener scores a mammoth knock against SRH in the next match.

Varun Chakravarthy was at his lethal best versus RCB as he claimed a four-wicket haul.

In addition to this, he restricted the rival side to just 15 runs in his 3.4 overs.

He will once again look to use the pitch conditions to his advantage.

Lockie Ferguson finally played his first game of the season as he replaced Tim Southee in the line-up against GT.

N Jagadeesan also came in for Mandeep Singh.

KKR might go with same lineup vs SRH.

SRH made three changes to their XI against PBKS.

Heinrich Klaassen, Marco Jansen and Mayank Markande had come in. But considering the spin-friendly conditions in Kolkata, Adil Rashid could be slotted back.

Kolkata Knight Riders Possible Playing 11

Rahmanullah Gurbaz(WK), Narayan Jagadeesan(WK), Nitish Rana(C), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Suyash Sharma, Lockie Ferguson, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy

Sunrisers Hyderabad Possible Playing 11

Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram(C), Heinrich Klaasen(WK), Washington Sundar, Adil Rashid, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Who will win

KKR has a home advantage against SRH for this match, but SRH played very well in their last match against PBKS.

Both teams have confidence, so we expect this match will be another thrilling one.

Players like Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana could struggle against the genuine pace of SRH bowlers.

Aiden Markram’s leadership is astute and could be a differentiator for SRH.

Rahul Tripathi’s return to form could also spell trouble for the opposition.

KKR’s victories have come due to some unbelievable flashes of brilliance from individual players, which is not going to happen every time.

That’s why our experts believe SRH will win this tussle at Eden Gardens.
