Following the conclusion of the ongoing 5-match T20I series between India and Australia, the Indian cricket team, is set to embark on a tour to South Africa. This comprehensive tour encompasses three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches, commencing on December 10 and concluding with the last Test match scheduled to start on January 3, 2024. The Indian Cricket Board has announced the squad for the series. In a surprising turn of events, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are rested for the white ball series.

The action kicks off on December 10 with the T20Is taking place in Durban, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg. Given the proximity of the T20 World Cup next year, there is heightened anticipation and emphasis on the shortest format. Following a brief period of rest, the Indian team will shift their focus to the ODIs starting from December 17 in Johannesburg. The Test series is set to commence on Boxing Day in Centurion, with Cape Town hosting the second and final Test match of the tour before the squad returns home.

On November 29, the Indian Cricket Board made an announcement confirming the extension of Rahul Dravid’s contract as the coach of the Indian cricket team. This decision comes on the heels of a successful stint during the ODI World Cup 2023, where the team secured ten consecutive victories but fell short in the final match against Australia. The coaching staff, comprising Vikram Rathour as the batting coach, Paras Mhambrey as the bowling coach, and T Dlip as the fielding coach, will also continue in their respective roles alongside Dravid.
