Indian women shine with 4 medals, win 2 golds in pistol and rifle events in Asian Games 2023

India’s female athletes are achieving remarkable results at the ongoing 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. On Day 4, Sift Kaur Samra made history by securing gold and breaking world, Asian, and Asian Games records in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions individual event, with Ashi Chouksey winning bronze in the same competition. 

Additionally, in the 50m rifle, 3 positions women’s team event, Ashi, Manini Kaushik, and Sift performed exceptionally, earning India a silver medal. The women’s 25m pistol team event also saw India clinch gold, with Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan delivering an impressive performance. 

Manu Bhaker topped the qualification round in the women’s 25m pistol event, with Esha finishing fifth and Rhythm seventh. Esha Singh secured the silver medal in the 25m women’s pistol final, while the Indian women’s hockey team kicked off their campaign with a dominant 13-0 victory against Singapore in Pool A.

India have won more than 20 medals in Asian Games 2023

Earlier, the Indian women’s cricket team also won the gold medal after they defeated Sri Lanka in the T20I tournament’s final clash on Monday, September 25. The contest was very thrilling as India scored only 116 runs in the first innings but the bowlers displayed a magnificent performance in the 2nd innings and successfully defended the target to beat them by 19 runs. 

India Women were the favourites at the start of the tournament, and they have managed to come out on top in challenging conditions. They’ll be pleased and proud of this particular achievement and so will be the fans of Indian cricket.

However, talking about the overall medal tally of the Indian team, they have won 5 golds, 7 Silver and 10 Bronze medals at the time of writing. It is to be believed that the numbers will surely increase. Indian men’s cricket team will also be playing soon in the tournament and they are also the favourite to win it.
