Indian management provides updates on injured players, Rishabh Pant starts wicketkeeping in nets
India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has been out of the game since a near-fatal car accident last December 30. Apart from him, a few key players such as Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Prasidh Krishna have been out of the game for some time. The Indian Cricket Board has provided an update on these players’ recovery with only a few months ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023.
Bumrah is recently reportedly to be making his comeback in the upcoming T20I series in Ireland. He has started to bowl full throttle in the nets in recent times. The medical team of the board is happy with his progress alongside Krishna. The latter got injured ahead of the IPL 2023, missing the tournament for the Rajasthan Royals that finished fifth.
The team will make a final decision following their participation in the practice games organized by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Rishabh Pant has started practice alongside others
Talking about Pant, he was ruled out of the game for the ongoing calendar year. To the surprise and happiness, the 25-year-old has started training in the nets. He has begun batting as well as keeping in the nets and is following a fitness program designed for him which includes strength, flexibility, and running.
On the other hand, KL Rahul, who was ruled out during the IPL 2023, has started training in the nets. Shreyas Iyer, who was ruled out due to back injury during the BGT series 2023 is also doing the same.
The medical team is happy with their progress as well and will be increasing their intensity in terms of both skills and strength and conditioning in the coming days. Team India would hope for all of their players to return to the field as soon as possible with the ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in the country from October 5.
