India swamp New Zealand 3-0

India beat New Zealand in the third ODI at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore and completed a comprehensive 3-0 sweep of the series.

The stand-out players for India were none other than Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, who scored an unprecedented 112 runs and 101 runs respectively in just 78 and 85 balls.

Gill, who has been on an absolute tear lately, scored his third century in four innings, leaving fans and commentators alike in awe of his exceptional talent.

Sharma, on the other hand, made a triumphant comeback with his first century in three years, proving that he is still a force to be reckoned with. Despite Sharma’s untimely dismissal, Gill’s record-breaking performance was enough to secure India’s victory.

In addition to these two, Hardik Pandya also played a crucial role, scoring 54 runs in just 38 balls. Together, these efforts helped India reach a staggering 385/9 in 50 overs, leaving New Zealand in the dust.

On the New Zealand side, Devon Conway put on a solid performance, scoring 138 runs in 100 balls. However, even this impressive feat was not enough to outshine India’s powerhouse team.

New Zealand was ultimately bowled out for 295 runs in 41.2 overs, with Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav being the most successful bowlers for India.

This victory not only cements India’s spot at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, but also pushes England and New Zealand down to second and fourth place respectively.

Shardul Thakur was named the player of the match for taking 3 wickets for 45 runs in just 6 overs.

Shubman Gill was named the player of the series for his two centuries and an unbeaten fifty.

Rohit Sharma said after the match, “In the last six games, we’ve done most things right in ODIs. We’re consistent in our approach with the bat and ball.”

“Without Siraj and Shami we wanted to give opportunities to other guys on the bench. We wanted to bring Chahal and Umran into the mix, put them under pressure. We had runs on the board, but on this kind of ground, no total is safe.”

“We stuck to the plans, and held our nerves. Shardul has been doing this for a while, so some people call him ‘Magician’. every time I’ve given Kuldeep the ball, he brings wickets. Just need to give him more games under his belt, because wrist spinners get better as they play more.”
