India suffer embarrassing defeat to Western Australia
India suffered a 36-run defeat against Western Australia in the second practice match in Perth on Thursday. Asked to chase down the target of 169, India managed a total of 132/7 and fell short by a big margin.
Coming out to bat at number 3, Deepak Hooda was dismissed for 6 off 9.
Hardik Pandya was off to a quick start but didn’t have a long stay in the middle. The star all-rounder scored 17 off 9.
Axar Patel could only manage 2 and Dinesh Karthik was dismissed on 10.
Earlier, Ashwin emerged as the standout bowler from the Indian camp.
The spinner scalped three wickets, all of which came in the same over.
Harshal Patel scalped two, while Arshdeep and Bhuvneshwar picked one wicket each.
One wicket came in the form of run-out.
For Western Australia, Nick Hobson and D’Arcy Short slammed half-centuries helping the team reach 168/6.
Hobson was dismissed for 64 by Harshal, while Short was run-out on 52 in the same over.
Team India will now fly to Brisbane to take part in two warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand before the start of T20 World Cup.
Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have joined Team India in Australia.
