‘India ka kya hoga inke samne’ – Fans react as Pakistan pace trio pick up 8 wickets against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2023

The pace trio of Pakistan consisting of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah has become a threat in recent times in world cricket due to their ability to bowl at a good pace along with swing. The Men in Green are currently the number one-ranked team in ODIs and contribution from them is crucial in achieving that. 

Before this Asia Cup, all eyes were on them and they did not disappoint so far. Against Nepal, they took five wickets (Afridi and Rauf two each, Naseem one). Then, against Nepal, they ran carnage as they picked up all 10 wickets (Afridi four, Naseem and Haris three each). Now, on 6 September, they were in action once again against Bangladesh in Lahore.

It was the first game of the ‘Super 4’ stage and again, Pakistan managed to bundle the Bangla Tigers out for just 193 runs in 38.4 overs. Haris Rauf grabbed four wickets for 19 runs in six overs. Naseem Shah picked up three wickets for 34 runs in 5.4 overs and Afridi managed one wicket for 42 runs in seven overs. They managed eight wickets while both Faheem Ashraf and Iftikhar Ahmed took one wicket each. Interestingly, after this clash, Haris Rauf is the current highest wicket-taker in this tournament with nine wickets at an average of 10.33.

Batters have found difficulties in facing the sheer pace from him. Naseem Shah is in the second spot with an average of 12.42 and Shaheen Shah Afridi is in the third spot with an average of 14.85. However, both of them have taken seven wickets each. So, seeing such a dominating performance from this pace trio, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. However, Afridi is the only bowler among these players who is currently within the top-10 ranked bowlers in ODIs. He is in the fifth spot with a rating point of 659.
