The Black caps registered a semi-final spot after their 4th consecutive victory.

New Zealand beat Afghanistan by 8 wickets, but they knocked out both Afghanistan and India.

They have played brilliantly in this tournament, and they made a very strong comeback after their first match defeat against Pakistan.

New Zealand qualified for yet another ICC tournament final.

They played and almost won the ICC ODI world cup, they won the ICC test championship, and now they have qualified for the 2021 world cup Semi-finals.

Will they be able to win this one?

May be time will tell.

Afghanistan’s worst Power play

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, but that didn’t prove to be a good decision at all.

Williamson used his bowlers very cleverly in the Power play as they know how much dangerous this Afghan side is especially in the power plays.

Southee and Boult bowled brilliantly in the start once again followed by Milne.

All the three picked up 1 wicket each and destroyed the Afghanistan’s top order batting.

Afghanistan scored just 23 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in the Power play.

Najibullah’s fighting 73 runs

Afghan batters didn’t look comfortable against the Kiwi bowlers and even after the end of Power play, they continued to lose wickets.

But in the middle overs Najibullah Zadran played some good shots, and he tried his best to recover the innings and put a good total on the board.

He first made a 37 runs partnership with Gulbadin Naib and then a solid 59-runs stand with the skipper M.Nabi.

Najibullah played a superb innings of 73 runs off 48 balls(6 fours and 3 sixes).

This was also the highest score by an Afghan player in the T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan stated their innings very badly, they played better and recovered things a bit in the middle, but they failed to score quick runs in the death overs.

Like the batting Power play, this was their worst death overs score for Afghanistan in this tournament.

New Zealand’s comfortable chase

The Kiwis got a very quick start as they scored 45 runs with lost of just 1 wicket and that was of Daryl Mitchell.

But Afghan bowlers recovered well after the Power play and bowled good lines and lengths.

Both Rashid and Mujeeb tried their best to pick up wickets, and they got 1 wicket each from their spells.

Conway-Williamson Stand

Williamson and Devon Conway had a good partnership to ensure their team’s victory.

Williamson again played a cool innings in a run chase condition.

He picked the ones and twos regularly to put pressure on the opposition side.

Williamson and Conway’s 68 runs partnership off 56 balls gave their team a victory by 8 wickets.

This 11 ball win of New Zealand over Afghanistan means that now both India and Afghanistan will pack their bags and leave to their homes.
