Aaron Finch decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

It was the right decision as the Aussie bowlers just destroyed the Bangladeshi batting lineup with some brilliant spells, especially by the leggie Adam Zampa.

Australia got a much-needed boost in their net run rate as they chased down the minor total of 74 runs in just 6.2 overs.

Australia jumped to the 2^nd spot on the points table and now they will face the defending champions West Indies in their next match.

As for Bangladesh, it’s a time to introspect and revamp their squad.

Bangladeshi top-order fails again

Bangladesh lost 3 wickets in the first 3 overs.

It all started when opener Liton Das was bowled out by a brute of a delivery from Mitchell Starc in the 3^rd ball of the very first over.

This was followed by the wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim in the next 2 overs.

Bangladesh ended their powerplay on 33 runs with the loss of 4 wickets.

8 Bangladeshi batsmen scored in single digits and Shamim Hossain was the highest scorer with 19.

Shamim also hit the only six of the innings off Zampa.

Adam Zampa gets his best career figures

After the failure of the Bangladeshi top-order, Zampa came into action and cleaned up the lower middle-order.

Zampa bowled superbly to attain not only his best bowling figures but were also the best bowling figures by any Australian bowler in T20 World Cups.

He picked up 5 wickets for just 19 runs and broke the record of James Faulkner who bowled a splendid spell of 5-27 against Pakistan.

The Bangladeshi lower middle order was unable to pick up his googlies and once again they were bowled on less than 100 runs.

Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc (2 for 21 runs) and Josh Hazlewood (2 for 8 runs) took four wickets while all-rounder Glenn Maxwell sent a batsman to the pavilion.

Australian batters boost NRR

Australian batters came to bat to chase down a low total of 74.

They had to do it as quickly as possible to boost up their Net Run Rate and they did exactly that.

Both the Australian openers started aggressively especially the skipper Aaron Finch, who scored a quick fire 40 off 20 balls including 4 sixes and 2 fours.

He had an opening partnership of 58 runs with David Warner (18).

Warner hit 3 fours in 14 balls.

Mitchell Marsh (16 *) hit the winning six off Taskin Ahmed.

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam of Bangladesh took one wicket each.

As a result of this massive win, Australia are now on 2^nd spot in the points table.
