On Day 2 of the 2nd Test match in Visakhapatnam Test, young Yashasvi Jaiswal shone at the bat, recording his first-ever double century in Test history. The cricket community was ecstatic by Yashasvi’s incredible achievement, but former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir cautioned against getting too carried away because the extra pressure could negatively impact Yashasvi’s natural style of play.

Gambhir said, “I want to congratulate the youngster for his achievement but, more importantly, I want to tell everyone that let the young man play. We have seen in the past that in India we have a habit, especially the media, to over-hype their achievements and give them tags and make them look like heroes.”

As the day 2 started, India resumed their game at 336 runs. However, the team couldn’t convert the score as they were dismissed within 60 runs. Jaiswal scored his double-century before getting dismissed at 209 runs off 290 balls. India went on to score 396 runs. Even though the English batters started their inning on a good note, they failed to continue the momentum. Thus, they ended their first inning at 253 runs. With that, India took the lead of 143 runs.

‘You have to be patient with that’ – Jasprit Bumrah talks about his bowling

As Jasprit Bumrah took six wickets on the 2nd day of the 2nd Test match against England, he has once again proved that currently he is the best bowler India has. After day 2 ended, Bumrah talked about his bowling experience on day 2 and how he managed to bowl all kinds of yorkers and other variations.

Bumrah said, “You have to be patient with that. Have to set the batters up. Have to use deliveries wisely. Can’t just bowl inswing outswing, inswing outswing. After that Pope delivery, I had in mind they’ll be looking out for the inswinger. Was keeping an eye on what the batters were looking to do. Very happy. Try and avoid looking at numbers. When you do that, you build pressure and don’t enjoy yourself.”
