25-year-old Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra has come up with some valuable suggestions for India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. During the Indian Express Idea Exchange, the Javelin Champion said “I like Jasprit Bumrah, I find his action unique. I feel he should lengthen his run-up to add more pace,”

Neeraj Chopra emphasized the same and said “As a javelin thrower, we often discuss how bowlers can increase their pace if they start their run-up from a little further back. I like Bumrah’s style.”

The youngster also shared his experiences of watching the ODI World Cup final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad. When quizzed to share his experiences further, Neeraj Chopra said that he didn’t understand the nuances of the game.

“This was the first time I watched a match fully. When I was on the flight, India had lost three wickets already. Virat (Kohli) bhai and KL Rahul were batting when I reached. There are some technical things that I don’t understand”

India’s ace athlete though put a different perspective after India’s loss during the event. “Batting in the daytime wasn’t very easy. In the evening, I think, batting became easy. But our guys tried. Sometimes, it’s just not our day. But, frankly, everyone had a great tournament.”

Australia came in for special praise from Neeraj Chopra who lauded the mindset of Pat Cummins and his team. “Maybe, somewhere mentally, the Australian team held an edge at the start. When they bowled, I found they had a strong mindset. In the end, they had completely flipped it over. They were confident about their game,”

Jasprit Bumrah will next feature for India during the tour of South Africa. The right-arm-pacer is also expected to play a key role for India during the 2024 T20 World Cup. As far as Neeraj Chopra is concerned he will set his eyes on winning another gold for India in the Paris 2024 games.
