Gujarat Titans has suffered a massive blow ahead of the IPL 2024. Mohammed Shami is set to be ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to the ankle injury he suffered during the ODI WC 2023. The star pacer reported the injury after the conclusion of the ODI WC 2023. Despite everything he did in his capacity, India could not win the tournament.

After the tournament, Shami was set to take part in the series against South Africa. However, fans got to know of his ankle injury which ruled him out of the series against SA and England. While the fans were hopeful of him returning to full fitness just before the IPL 2024, they are left disappointed, as it is unlikely to see the right-arm pacer in action in the 17th edition of the league.

As per the reports, Shami has not yet recovered from the injury. It might take him some more time to get fully fit to play matches. While Shami looked good in his physique after getting awarded the Arjuna Award for his performance in the ODI WC 2023, he does not seem fit to bowl anytime soon. It might also mean that Shami will not take part in the T20 WC 2024.

The injury list of Gujarat Titans increases

This is a big blow for GT ahead of their campaign in the IPL 2024. Shami is someone who can swing the ball away from the right-handers. More importantly, he is a seamer whose style of bowling suits the wickets of Ahmedabad and offers extra bounce and pace. He is the latest player in the lineup of Gujarat Titans to cause tensions.

Rashid Khan also reported an injury which could potentially rule him out of the IPL 2024. He was ruled out of the recent series of Afghanistan. He also missed BBL and PSL. Hardik Pandya’s trade was a massive blow for GT as they lost a key player. In 2024, GT could be a different unit altogether as they are likely to be without their key players.
