India qualify for the Super-4 stage of the tournament

India beat Hong Kong by 40 runs to qualify for the Super-4 stage of the tournament.

The Hong Kong team gave India a tough fight, ending their innings at 152/5 in 20 overs.

Cricket experts and netizens lauded Hong Kong for its fighting spirit as most of the players in their team are not full-time cricketers.

Due to cricket being an expensive sport in Hong Kong, players have to juggle their profession between cricket and full-time jobs.

Hong Kong batter Kinchit Shah made the Asia Cup 2022 game against India quite particular for himself as he proposed to his girlfriend soon after the game.

The lovely moment was captured on camera as he went down on his knees to propose to his girlfriend after the match.

The young batter kneeled down and proposed to his girlfriend with a ring and she replied yes.

Kinchit Devang Shah is an Indian-born Hong Kong cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler.

He is also an occasional wicketkeeper. Born in Mumbai, he moved to Hong Kong when he was 4 years old.

Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan talks about the match

Nizakat Khan said that they need to improve their bowling performance in the death overs of the match for their upcoming clash.

“We bowled well till the 13 overs. We restricted them and we need to work on our death bowling.

“The mindset is that we enjoy our game. It was a slow wicket. Spin bowlers could not bowl well in death overs and we need to work on that,” Khan said in a post-match press conference.

“Suryakumar Yadav batted really well. The Way Suryakumar played he did not allow us to make a comeback in the last 6-7 overs”

“Virat Kohli is coming back into form I guess. The way he has played shows that he is coming back into form.” (with ANI inputs)

Virat Kohli looked in great touch, but it was Suryakumar Yadav who scored a quickfire 68* to propel India to a score of 192/2

The Hong Kong innings started on a good note.

But the 193-run target proved to be too much for them, ending at 152 for five in the stipulated 20 overs.

Arshdeep Singh (1/44) gave the breakthrough, while Ravindra Jadeja effected a run-out to remove skipper Nizakat Khan and then dismissed their top-scorer Bahar Hayat (41) to derail their spirited chase.
