Indian young cricketer Devdutt Padikkal marked his presence once again in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 by smashing his second century of the season, taking his List A tally to an impressive eighth hundred in just 29 innings. The left-handed opener showcased his prowess with a blistering 94-ball ton against Chandigarh, propelling his List-A average beyond 84.

Padikkal’s remarkable form has seen him amass over 450 runs in just five innings in the ongoing tournament. His stellar performance was pivotal in Karnataka‘s innings building, as he joined forces with Nikin Jose to forge a formidable 150-plus run partnership for the third wicket. His aggressive batting style allowed him to dominate the opposition, scoring runs fluently across the park.

Recently making headlines off the field, Padikkal transitioned to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a trade with Rajasthan Royals (RR), with fast bowler Avesh Khan heading in the opposite direction. Excited about donning the LSG jersey, Padikkal expressed enthusiasm about playing under the leadership of KL Rahul, his Karnataka teammate.

“I would just like to thank you to the management at the Super Giants for giving me this opportunity to represent the franchise. I’m really looking forward to playing under KL and his guidance, and I always enjoyed batting with him as well. So I’m looking forward to doing that again,” Padikkal was quoted as saying by India Today.

LSG have undergone significant changes in management, securing the services of former Australia coach Justin Langer, a move Padikkal commended after speaking to the coach and witnessing his commitment firsthand. As the Vijay Hazare Trophy unfolds, Padikkal’s stellar form and transition to the LSG camp promise an exciting chapter in his cricketing journey.

“I also have a chat with JL (Justin Langer), and I can tell that he’s really committed, and I’m looking forward to learning a lot from him as he is such an experienced coach, and he’s achieved a lot in his career as well,” Padikkal said.
