Henry Cavill is reportedly returning with Man of Steel 2
Warner Bros wants to see Henry Cavill return to the DCEU as Superman.
A sequel to the 2013 movie ‘Man of Steel’ keeping Henry Cavill in mind is looking for screenwriters.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and the heads of Warner Bros. Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are quite interested in Cavill reprises his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe. This sequel would be produced by Charles Roven.
The makers of the film are on the lookout for writers for the film. Mission Impossible writer/director Christopher McQuarrie was leading the list but either Warner Bros hasn’t reached out to him or he’s too busy with the Mission Impossible franchise.
Consequently, there were talks of Cavill making a cameo as Superman in the movie Black Adam but DC films director rejected this idea when it was brought up during the reshoots. “The Rock” Johnson, the star of Black Adam, went to Warner Bros despite Hamada’s rejection. Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, the chiefs of pictures, gave their approval. It appears that the scene was shot in September 2022.
Reports that Warner Bros wants Cavill to return as Superman have been doing the rounds since August 2022 but at that time, the studio didn’t give any confirmations regarding the same. A lot of people assumed that Cavill would make an appearance in the San Diego Comic Con 2022 and his absence was a bummer for all his fans.
However, Dwanye Johnson recently teased a pivotal cameo from the Man of Steel. The actor then emphasized the sentence, “On this planet,” leading many fans to conclude that this was a reference to Superman in Black Adam, defining the hero as “the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet.”
Since 2013’s Man of Steel, Cavill has played the Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and he will reprise the role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. In a December 2021 interview, Cavill said he still has his Superman suit and is “ready and waiting for the phone calls.”
In a November 2021 interview, Cavill said he wasn’t finished playing the Last Son of Krypton and that there was still “a lot more storytelling for [him] to do” as Superman.
