Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns 49. Here’s a look at her most underrated films.
Almost everyone has been in love with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at least once in their lives. The #wcw has stolen hearts with her green eyes and pretty smile and has had a stellar career no doubt but apart from her mainstream films, there are a few films of the actress about which people don’t know much but you should watch.
Here’s a curated list of her most underrated but watchable films;
Raincoat
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Neeru, a lady who reconnects with her previous fiance, in this 2004 film directed by the late great Rituparno Ghosh. The film is lovely and hits all the right notes, which is to be expected from a Rituparno Ghosh production.
Chokher Bali
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played Binodini in another film directed by Ghosh. When it was released, the film was extremely popular at the box office and received good reviews, and it went on to win a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.
Guru
Even though Guru is not as underrated as the rest of the movies in this list, what is underrated is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s acting and her portrayal of Sujata since she pulled off this emotionally heavy role like a pro.
Raavan
While the film plays with the subject of what is truly good and what is truly wicked, many critics deemed it to be uninteresting and lacking in substance. But since this list is for Aishwarya, watch the film for her.
Provoked
This is one of her best and most daring performances. While the film’s plot was lauded for dealing with such a sensitive subject, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the one who shines.
Happy Birthday to the gorgeous star!
