Former Pakistan cricketer critical of team’s batting ahead of Asia Cup 2023
Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Team became the number one ODI team for the second time. The same happened in April when they beat New Zealand in two ODIs. However, at that time, the glory stayed for only two days. Close to six months later, the Green Brigade has become the number-one ODI team after cleaning up Afghanistan 3-0.
During the series, Pakistan failed to score 300-plus runs twice batting first. In the first game, they were bowled out for 200-plus runs. Two games later, they amassed 260-plus. In the second game, they managed to chase down but with only one wicket in hand. At one point, they were winning the game easily. Meanwhile, after winning the ODI series 3-0, Pakistan will enter the Asia Cup 2023 as the top ODI side for the first time.
How will Pakistan score 300-plus runs in the Asia Cup 2023: Kamran Akmal
The former Pakistan wicketkeeper batter, Kamran Akmal has questioned the team’s batting ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. He said if the team can’t score against low-ranked Afghanistan, how will they do the same against India in the tournament? Both India and Pakistan will play against each other on September 2.
“In modern-day cricket, every batsman has to play positive. If we can’t score 300 against this team, can we do that when we face India in the Asia Cup? It becomes pretty difficult. It was a good practice opportunity for Pakistan team, we got a chance in two games to bat first and put on a big score. The batters should’ve shown more responsibility,” Kamran said on his official YouTube channel.
“Yes, you scored 300 in the second game. But batters should’ve finished the game. It was a lower-order who finished the run-chase for you. It’s not a good sign for Pakistan team,” he added.
