Former Indian player still pays more tax than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Former legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni is one of the richest cricketers in the world. Dhoni’s success on the field helped him to get multiple brand deals, he also has a great business mind as he has a net worth of around INR 1000 crore in 2023. This is without even playing for the national team as he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
Meanwhile, Dhoni, surprisingly is also the highest tax-payer cricketer in the world leaving behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who are still playing international cricket. Dhoni continued to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from which he earns INR 12 crore per year. He also led CSK to their 5th IPL title in the recently concluded IPL 2023.

Despite his retirement from international cricket, the I-T department confirmed that he was still the biggest taxpayer in 2022–2023. Even though Dhoni retired on August 15, 2020, his yearly income has not changed. According to his advance tax payment to the Income Tax Department, his income in the fiscal year 2022–2023 will practically be equal to that of his previous fiscal year.
For the fiscal year that concluded on March 31 of the current year, Dhoni paid the I-T Department an advance tax totalling Rs 38 crore. He had contributed the same sum as advance tax last year as well. Dhoni had deposited a payment totalling about Rs 30 crore as advance tax in the fiscal years 2020–21.
Dhoni also turned 42 on July 7 and many fans are celebrating his birthday from every corner of the country. Not only fans, but many players from the cricket fraternity also took to social media to wish the legendary wicketkeeper on his special occasion. Dhoni remains inactive on social media, however, still, the fans get pictures or videos from his friends and teammates.
