Indian cricket team’s top order struggled a lot in their first match of the Asia Cup 2023 which was against Pakistan played on September 2. Pakistan’s fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah looked great with the ball and destroyed India’s top order.

Meanwhile, former Indian pacer Shanthakumaran Nair Sreesanth believes that luck favoured Pakistani pacer Shaheen who got Indian veteran batter Virat Kohli clean bowled with a thick inside edge after which the ball straight went to the stumps. The former pacer said that he is waiting for the next India-Pakistan match where Kohli will dominate.

“It was unfortunate for India. Pakistan were lucky to get Virat Kohli’s wicket because it was an inside edge. I don’t count it as a wicket. I know him personally, which is why I know what would have been going through his mind after seeing Pakistan’s celebration. I am just waiting for the next India-Pakistan match,” Sreesanth was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Just wait for the next match: Sreesanth

Not only Kohli, Shaheen also got rid of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma who also got clean bowled. Sreesanth said that Rohit doesn’t struggle always against the left-arm pacers. Sreesanth believes that Rohit started off quite well but couldn’t keep the same form for long. According to him, Kohli also looked very good and after watching his cover drive he thought that Kohli would score a century.

“I won’t say Rohit Sharma has always struggled against left-arm pacers. When you are in good form, everything clicks. He started off quite well, hitting flick even off a good ball. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looked very good. After watching Virat Kohli’s cover drive, I thought he would score a century. Just wait for the next match. Let any left-arm pacer come, we will dominate him,”
